We are seeking an experienced Functional & Performance Test Consultant to support a strategic implementation programme. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise across functional validation, end-to-end testing, performance engineering, stakeholder communication and release readiness within enterprise delivery environments.
This role requires a proactive consultant capable of managing both functional and performance testing activities, ensuring high-quality releases, validating business-critical workflows, and supporting successful go-lives and deployments.
Roles and responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate end-to-end functional testing activities for implementation and rollout programmes.
- Validate business workflows, integrations and end-to-end system functionality across multiple environments.
- Design, execute and maintain functional test scenarios, regression test suites, integration test cases and UAT support activities.
- Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Development and Release teams to ensure business requirements are fully validated.
- Support defect triaging, root-cause analysis and resolution tracking to ensure production readiness.
Performance testing responsibilities
- Manage the performance testing workstream for upcoming go-lives and deployments.
- Plan and execute load testing, stress testing, scalability testing and reliability testing.
- Evaluate performance test results, identify bottlenecks and recommend optimisation and stability improvements.
- Prepare and own performance test reports, execution summaries and stakeholder communications.
- Support rollout activities for new sites by validating system performance under expected business loads.
Collaboration & delivery
- Attend daily and weekly project meetings for release planning, deployments and stakeholder updates.
- Work closely with cross-functional distributed teams in an Agile delivery environment.
- Ensure quality governance, risk management and timely delivery across testing workstreams.
Required skills & experience — functional testing
- Strong experience in functional, regression, integration and end-to-end testing, plus UAT coordination.
- Experience working with enterprise applications and complex business workflows.
Required skills & experience — performance testing
- Hands-on experience with JMeter and Gatling; LoadRunner desirable.
- Strong understanding of throughput, response times, bottleneck analysis and system scalability.
Technical & delivery skills
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release management processes.
- Strong stakeholder communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to independently manage testing deliverables in remote environments.
